Blood Rage

Blood Rage is a powerful action tanks can use to greatly boost their damage, and potentially their utility too.

Common Mistakes & How Not to Make Them

  • Don't forget that Blood Rage gives one stack of the buff upon activation. If you're confused about how the action works as a whole, read the guide linked above and then try it out yourself.

  • Remember not to use any ability with a cooldown longer than 30 seconds before activating Blood Rush. Using them under Blood Rush will grant extra uses and a huge damage boost.

  • Don’t enter Blood Rush right before downtime. Fights like Trinity Avowed and Queen have long periods of downtime that might happen right before or right after entering Blood Rush. For Trinity Avowed specifically, you’ll want to wait to use your second use of Blood Rage if the Swords mechanic happens third.

  • Do a lot of damage during Blood Rush. It may seem obvious, but Blood Rush provides a huge damage bonus, especially when combined with Font of Power. Focus on doing as much damage as possible during this short window.

Main Tanking

The main tank of the raid has a large amount of responsibility, as there are several mechanics based on the boss's facing. If you want to try your hand at it, it's recommended you have a decent understanding of the instance and ideally be able to clear with no deaths, or at least have someone to back you up.

Impetus Chaining

Impetus chaining is an advanced Blood Rage tech that uses Lost Impetus and an extra Blood Rage action to get ~60% uptime on the Blood Rush buff. Remember to ALWAYS ask for permission if you plan to Impetus chain, as this is a somewhat controversial tech. Even if the host gives permission make sure to let your party know they'll be receiving a speed boost periodically, as while the Impetus makes solving mechanics easier it can also mess up some player's muscle memory.

Essence of the Irregular

This special essence provides a large boost in damage, but requires significant external support and carries heavy risk. Do not use this essence without host permission, doing so is a quick way to find yourself left dead on the ground. Using this essence in DRS requires not just host permission but also at least 8 Rays of Fortitude and enough experience to clear the instance with no stacks of Ruin, as any failed mechanic will instantly kill you.
